Backstage Dance began as a home-based dance studio in the Benson area. In August 2005, the studio relocated to Cherry Hills off of I-680 and the Irvington exit. The studio is well-located with its ease to interstate access and close to shops and dining. Backstage Dance is pleased to offer a wide variety of classes for students of all ages. Class sizes are limited so each student receives individual attention to continue to grow in their dance training year after year. We teach with family-friendly music and moves. We have a shop with dance apparel, shoes and accessories available online throughout the year and in the lobby at various times of the year. Costume design and alteration services are also available.
Backstage Dance is owned and operated by Karli Torosian and Andrea Gilbert. Both instructors have advanced training as dancers, instructors and directors. We feel very blessed that we have the opportunity to share our love of dance with others!
Karli Torosian has been teaching children and adults for over 20 years. She has a Bachelor’s Degree in Fine Arts and completed the Royal Academy of Dancing Syllabus at Creighton University. Karli began dancing and gymnastics as a little girl and continued through college, performing in many competitions, musicals, and dance companies. When she is not teaching, Karli is spending time with her husband and four children.
Andrea (Gilbert) Robertson is the former owner/director of On Broadway Dance Academy. She has been dancing and competing since she was a little girl, attending several conventions and competitions, and studying in Los Angeles. Andrea has been teaching and choreographing for over 20 years and has taken her students to competitions and performances around the United States, including DisneyWorld, DisneyLand and the Outback Bowl. Andrea is also head coach of the Concordia High School Dance Team. When she is not teaching, Andrea is designing costumes/apparel for her other business (AKG Designs) and spending time with her family.
